SEN / 遷 / Transition
The Meaning of Transition
Sen / 遷 / Transition was an exhibition centered around the idea of change. The process of moving from one state, place, time, or phase to another. Inspired by the Japanese kanji of 遷移 (sen'i), the exhibition invited artists to reflect on transition through their own experiences and interpretations. Rather than defining the theme narrowly, the project embraced the many ways change can be understood, experienced, and expressed.

Diverse Perspectives, Shared Space
The exhibition brought together 20 Indonesian artists, each contributing work in their chosen medium and format. Artists were invited to create freely, resulting in a collection that ranged from illustration, photography, comics, and mixed-media collage to fabric-based works, mending practices, and motion pieces. Through these diverse approaches, Sen became a platform for multiple narratives of transformation while introducing international artistic perspectives to the local Yachiyo community.

Laying the Foundation for Future Collaboration
Running for three days, the exhibition welcomed approximately 350 visitors per day from both local Japanese audiences and the Indonesian community in Japan. Beyond the exhibition itself, Sen became an important milestone in developing a cross-border collaborative model that would later support future Rumpun projects. By utilizing accessible tools such as Google Forms and Google Slides, the exhibition demonstrated how artists across different locations could contribute, organize, and exhibit together through a shared digital infrastructure.
