Everyday Moments, Shared Stories

Nichijo / 日常, meaning "everyday life," explored the beauty hidden within ordinary moments. Presented in a café space in Omotesando, the exhibition brought together three photographers whose works reflected the rhythms, details, and quiet observations of daily living. Rather than focusing on grand events, Nichijo invited visitors to slow down and find meaning in the familiar.

Three Photographers, One Narrative

The exhibition was designed as a visual guessing game. All three photographers worked with Canon sister camera models and photographed exclusively on Ilford black-and-white film, creating a cohesive visual language across the exhibition. The photographs were intentionally displayed as an interconnected story, encouraging viewers to move through the works while questioning which artist captured each image and where one perspective ended and another began.

Imagining Color Through Monochrome

By presenting the entire exhibition in black and white, Nichijo embraced the intimacy and ambiguity of monochrome photography. The absence of color invited visitors to project their own memories and interpretations onto each frame, imagining the colors, atmosphere, and emotions that existed beyond the photograph. In doing so, the exhibition transformed everyday scenes into personal experiences shaped by the imagination of each viewer.
